  • First time I visited Big Top Candy Shop with my mom and son today and we will make this a new place to go monthly if possible. Your favorite candy as a kid that grew up in the 90's is all there! I had a blast! Lol my son loved it too!.
  • A must visit in Austin! Vintage soda shop with lots of fun treats!! 30+ flavors for sodas and ices! Tasha suggested a concoction of sour cherry, blue raspberry and sour shots! Sour, but not crazy warheads sour. Super refreshing on a hot day!
  • Fun! Stepping back in time to my childhood they had all the candies that used to be so common. There are candies from around the world and also funny things like bacon frosting and bacon cotton candy. They have an antique cigarette machine with candy cigarettes in it. This is a fun place and you will be smiling!
  • Great selection of candy. I go to candy stores now and again to try and find old candies from childhood, and I never find them. All of them were here and more - such a great variety with an old-fashioned candy store vibe.
  • This place is great and the people in it are way awesome. I came in to get some candy but totally waffled with the one area with chocolates. They helped me make up my mind and were super friendly and that salted caramel chocolate was way divine. Will totally hit up this spot again and can't recommend it enough!

Where to stay in Austin

Austin bills itself as the "Live Music Capital of the World," so it shouldn't come as a surprise that many of its hotels sell out long before the city's popular festivals. If you wish to stay near downtown's live music scene, look for package deals and book your accommodations well in advance. If downtown clubs and bars aren't your priority, consider hotels located just outside the central part of town, in comfortable areas where you won't need a car to get to most of the city's major cultural sites.
