Trip Planner:   USA  /  Georgia  /  Augusta  /  Riverwalk
Along the Savannah River, the brick-lined Riverwalk brings the old charm of the south to life. You'll step into a subtropical oasis as brick paths draw you past sculpted gardens with fountains and carefully placed benches for taking in the view. Standing atop a coastal ridge, the two-level walkway offers has a children's playground and informative plaques. Part of the river walk includes an outdoor amphitheater, as well as two large downtown water features. Locals often have a picnic at one of the tables provided or choose a picturesque spot for a photo session. Before you visit Augusta, use our trip planner to discover what you can do and see there.

  • This is a must visit. Very beautiful riverwalk, with the perfect landscape to enjoy on either side of the river (Georgia and South Carolina) whether you want to sit down and/or walk around. The river ...  more »
  • The Riverwalk is a sidewalk along the Savannah River - nothing more. I suspect, in the beginning, this was a great idea. But, as with plans, they need funding, maintenance, and protecting. After the s...  more »
  • Even though it was very cold when we were here, we were drawn to the riverwalk by the view we saw from our hotel room. A lovely combination of business, local information, and personal residences... a...  more »

  • The Augusta Riverwalk is one of my favorite things to do on just about any day. The only reason it will get four stars because it doesn't actually connect paved all the way to the rest of the Columbia County trail system. While Richmond County does have the river walk through the general part of the city the paved portion and just Northwest of the city and there's a single-track footpath in the dirt and mud that goes through ups and connects with the rest of the trail. Connecting the rest of this officially will make, in my mind, the Augusta Riverwalk the premier attraction in the entire area. Even still, it does connect to North Augusta's Greenway but with just a little work (less than a mile, this would be a world class bike path.
  • Beautiful, quiet, riverfront playground and boardwalk. If you get there at the right time (1:45pm being one of them) you'll get to see a train go across the bridge slowly! It's nice and shady in the heat of summer and the cool air circulating from the waterfront makes this area especially good when the heat is overwhelming. I live taking my kids down here or going for a stroll after an afternoon date.
  • It was such a beautiful walk. Lots to see and so peaceful. Has potential for picnics too. There is a playground down the walk as well we met a lot of good friends today. Next time we will bring our scooters.
  • Beautiful walk. Loved the art gallery and the wildlife. The fog over the river was whimsical. Had a great time, got some great photos.
  • Great feature for Augusta; spend the day downtown. Water access and great views of the river and downtown. When it's warm and the market is open, it's even better ! Look for the music events.
