Just stopped off to stretch our legs during a road trip and we were pleasantly surprised by this museum. It was terrific and did a great job of telling the story of Maine. My young kids enjoyed the museum too.

It is definitely the best value for the money of any museum I've ever been to. So many great exhibits to browse through. Fun for all age groups and interests. Multiple floors but easy to maneuver and get around. Nice little gift shop attached to it and very friendly staff throughout making it a wonderful overall experience.

The displays were interesting and very informative. They had so many subjects and artifacts from Maine's history. It would really take several days to truly read and begin to appreciate all that there.

This place was fascinating and the exhibits were all so realistic and or well done. So many genuine artifacts to study and admire. There is a Huge scale reproduction logging workshop centerpiece which is 3 stories tall. They must have spent a lot of money here because it shows in the details. This is a place you must visit if you want to learn about the majestic state of Maine or its long history. Easy to follow floor plan layout, handicap friendly and clean public restrooms.

Somewhat hidden gem here. Very low entrance fee ($3 for adults, lower rates for seniors and children), but excellent and varied exhibits access four floors. Can spend several hours here admiring the display craftsmanship and learning about Maine history. Highly recommended.
