Capitol Park is a state-owned public park in Maine's state capitol complex on the west side of Augusta, Maine. Set aside in 1827, when the complex was established, the park, set between the Maine State House and the Kennebec River, served as a parade ground and encampment site during the American Civil War, and saw agricultural use before being formally designed as a park in the 1920s by the Olmsted Brothers. The park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

  • The Vietnam Veteran's Memorial is worth a stop, and park was very clean, but there is not much else to see there. Quiet place to take a rest.

  • This time of year, mid October, the park has beautiful fall colors -- lots of reds and oranges -- and it makes spending time in the park even better. I always love the sight of the Capitol building...

  • It's a nice park to take a stroll in, and it has great views of the State Capitol building, seeing that it's in front of it.

  • Met many nice folks. Great place to walk my Dogs.Beautiful church on the hill. Great event for a Revival.
  • Very beautiful park. We enjoyed a nice walk around the area with the family. Great place for a walk, run or a picnic very clean.
  • Somewhat wheel chair friendly. Quarter of park is paved, the rest is pebbles and difficult to navigate. Also wish the picnic tables was closer to the paved part due to it being difficult to also navigate over grass. Other than that the park is quiet, has trash cans which is helpful for picnics and dog poop bags for the little pooches. It’s beautiful walk and nice memorials for veterans.
  • Beautiful place for a walk and the quiet. There is an outdoor museum trail and parking across the street at the state office buildings.
  • It is a nice place to walk and not be bothered by other people. You can take your time walking and it is pretty quiet for a park. There is panic tables and a handicap table as well. The only thing that is sad is when dog owners don't pick after there dogs.
