Resorts Casino Hotel is a hotel and casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Resorts was the first casino hotel in Atlantic City, becoming the first legal casino outside of Nevada in the United States, when it opened on May 26, 1978. The resort completed an expansion in 2004, adding the 27-story Rendezvous Tower, and underwent renovations in 2011, converting the resort to a Roaring Twenties theme.HistoryFirst hotels on the siteThe Resorts site was originally occupied by two three-story wooden Quaker rooming houses, The Chalfonte House and The Haddon House. The Chalfonte House was built in 1868 by Elisha and Elizabeth Roberts. They had purchased a plot of land at North Carolina Avenue and Pacific Avenue from John DaCosta for $6500.00. The hotel was constructed during the winter for a cost of $21,000 and could accommodate 140 guests. They named the hotel for Chalfont St Giles, the town in Buckinghamshire where William Penn is buried. The Chalfonte House was expanded and moved oceanward twice, in 1879 and 1889.The Haddon House was opened across the street, on the current Resorts site, by Samuel and Susanna Hunt in 1869. They named the hotel for the Quaker family who had founded Haddonfield, New Jersey. It was sold to Leeds & Lippincott in 1890. In 1896 they rebuilt The Haddon House at a cost of $200,000, naming the new, larger hotel "Haddon Hall".

  • Resorts is the oldest casino in AC, but my personal favorite. For two reasons: the staff is the friendliest in town and it's more "down to earth" than the other casinos. By that I mean it's not all gl...  read more »

  • I was really surprised with the excellent service at Resorts Casino. Our first stop was at "One Bar" and the bartenders there couldn't have been more friendly. Next stop was "Gallagher's Steakhouse" for dinner. I was a little worried at first since there wasn't too many people there when we arrived. But it was early and as the night went on they started to fill every seat and for a good reason too. The food was excellent, I had the king crab legs and they were filled with thick pieces of juicy crab meat. A friend of mine had the queen cut steak which was a very nice thick cut steak. Overall the experience at Resorts was very impressive, I will definitely go back there the next time I'm in Atlantic City.
  • The location of the Resorts Hotel is great... Ocean front and right near the carnival pier. While my room was large and spacious, there was a sprite bottle on the floor next to the sofa that housekeeping missed when turning the room over before we checked in. Also the room smells like a smoky bar which isn't characteristic of other rooms nearby (I've been in others this trip), and the bathtub fitting is ill fitting. There is a hump in it which bounces and provides an unstable surface during showers. I did enjoy dining at the on-site restaurants and the variety of food available.
  • Room 4921. From 8/23 -8/27. Eating at breadsticks for breakfast. Was good so far. Gambled but lost. Room. Was beautiful and clean. Walked boardwalk. Going in beach now.
  • Spent 4 nights at Resorts casino. Great time. Room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated and service was excellent, including valet, bell and maid service. Pool was clean with plenty of lounge chairs, drinks at pool bar were delicious and reasonably priced. Casino was clean and lots of fun, no big pay offs but not constant donations either. Dined at Margaritaville, Landshark, Gallagher's burger bar and Gallagher's Steakhouse. Food and service was excellent. The only con was girl that initially checked us in was not at all pleasant did not greet us and bordered on rude, everyone else at front pleasant and friendly.
  • Got one if the newly renovated rooms. Room is nice. One issue is we can hear machine noises from building Ac out side the window. Bread stick restaurant is nice place to eat and get comfort food. Land shark cool place to eat and drink by the water. Having a good time so far.
