To get the full effect of how great and big this park is rent a bike. My daughter and I explored the entire park. She'd been running there several times but had no idea how big it really was. Playgrou...  more »

Came here with my friends and walked around the oval. It is a nice place for jogging, walking with your dog and watch baseball game. Trees all over the park. Comfort room accessible. No biking is allo...  more »

Atlanta's huge park. A haven for the citizens of Atlanta and places like that. You can also carry a lot of summer insects, but be careful. If you look at the Central Park in New York will be hit, as feeling like, multiple people can gather events that weekend.

We go here for the playgrounds. It's worth the train ride from North Springs, and the walk! The kids love the artsy playground. There is also another playground that is great for younger kids. On the weekends there is usually live music and food vending. The only minus is the homeless people around, sleeping on benches. It's a bit awkward to explain to kids. Other than that, the bathrooms are clean, although very HOT in the summer. There is usually somewhere to sit in the shade to watch the kids play.

This park is huge and has beautiful views for photo opportunities and a nice trail for walking, running, and biking. The ducks by the lake can be aggressive, so be careful. The playground and grassy hills are well liked by kids of all ages. Piedmont always has something going on. Check it out!

Gorgeous park. Its a little surprising gem inside downtown Atlanta. Its HUGE. Great place to take dogs and just walk around. My only issue was that we were sitting in a grassy field and I set my dog's leash down and a patrol person came and told us that we had to have leash in hand at all times. My dog was just lying there. There were plenty of other dogs running around with no leash and they didn't say a word. It pissed me off, but we didn't let it ruin our experience.

I love this park. With all the events that happen monthly along with the fact that it has pretty much everything and more you could ask for in a park. Play area for kids, a dog park, wonderful walking areas and of course the legacy fountain for all ages.

I know I won't be the only one saying that Piedmont park is amazing. It's great to have an area in a big city where people can run have sports to play or have a picnic under the sun. There's an amazing dog park, an active oval for running and sprinting, soccer fields, volley ball courts, tennis and basketball courts, and lots of open space for other activities. If you're planning a big event it's best to go to their website and book the space and get a permit, or get there decently early.

Where to stay in Atlanta

Most of Atlanta's top hotels cluster in a downtown area with an easy-to-remember name--the Hotel District. The city's political and commercial hub, this area offers quick walking access to most major attractions. Another good area for boutique hotels and rental apartments is the ever-expanding Midtown, with proximity to most of Atlanta's big-name museums and theaters. If you're looking to save some money on accommodations, explore options in the more economical chain hotels outside downtown; from there, you can take the city's public transport to centrally located attractions and activities.
