  • A cool place to checkout if you're looking for something new to do. A lot of history buried in this area of the city. Offers the opportunity for a quiet stroll through a hidden portion of the city. Definitely a good place to take out of town visitors. Bonus: There is a nice place right across the street to stp and have a bite to eat, enjoy a good beer, and chat about what you just saw -- six feet under.
  • Spur of the moment trip. We lucked out and had a two hour tour. It was so interesting. One can take several types of tours. Three I think are worth taking would be the General knowledge(the one we took) , Malts and Vaults, and Epitaphs. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The tour costs 12.00. I also downloaded an app on my phone which I have referred to since our visit. It has a map and an audio guide to the most important sections of the cemetery.
  • As cemeteries go, this is probably one of the more interesting ones with a lot of history. They even have tours. If you are looking for something to do on a nice day that is free, it is worth exploring.
  • Attended the halloween tour while visiting family. It was awesome. Actors portraying various famous people buried in the cemetery offering highlights of their life and contributions to Atlanta's history. Obviously a lot of planning and hard work went into this program. Thank you for sharing.
  • Very old cemetery inside the city perimeter. Take a walk or drive through. No entrance fees. You will get to see some famous people cemeteries. I recommend a visit to this place.

Where to stay in Atlanta

Most of Atlanta's top hotels cluster in a downtown area with an easy-to-remember name--the Hotel District. The city's political and commercial hub, this area offers quick walking access to most major attractions. Another good area for boutique hotels and rental apartments is the ever-expanding Midtown, with proximity to most of Atlanta's big-name museums and theaters. If you're looking to save some money on accommodations, explore options in the more economical chain hotels outside downtown; from there, you can take the city's public transport to centrally located attractions and activities.
