Where to stay in Atlanta

Most of Atlanta's top hotels cluster in a downtown area with an easy-to-remember name--the Hotel District. The city's political and commercial hub, this area offers quick walking access to most major attractions. Another good area for boutique hotels and rental apartments is the ever-expanding Midtown, with proximity to most of Atlanta's big-name museums and theaters. If you're looking to save some money on accommodations, explore options in the more economical chain hotels outside downtown; from there, you can take the city's public transport to centrally located attractions and activities.

  • One of my favorite things about going to cities I've not spent much time in is finding those spots or gems that really showcase local art, food, and anything that really tells me what makes the people tick here, for me, there is no better representation of Atlanta, than Krog Street Market. Getting the worst of it out of the way first is the parking- the lot isn't big for as busy as this place is so you're going to more than likely need to find street parking. The inside has it all! From a magazine stand, soup store, something for your pets, a beer garden, and many, many food item options all packed into a small warehouse type of building- this place is legit. It has picnic style seating in the middle for your enjoyment so sit down and make a friend while you grub up. The market is broken up into two sections: the first being mainly food and the second, smaller building up front is a store featuring, what I was told were local artists, but I think it has a mixture. A lot of cool finds inside, especially if you're looking for that Atlanta keepsake for yourself that you haven't picked up yet. I definitely think you'll find it here. Honestly, my favorite thing was the free cups of water in the middle by the seating. It's hot in Atlanta so you need something to cool you off- definitely some southern hospitality right there. Definitely check it out. Come hungry because you're going to want to eat. Save your spending money for here too because you're gonna wanna buy a gift for someone here too (maybe that someone is you).
  • Few places in Atlanta have the ability to convince you that you're a part of something big happening around you--Krog Street Market is one of them. Great selection of food for almost everyone, including those of us with dietary restrictions. Seating areas are plentiful and incorporated into the marketplace feel of the whole dig. I highly recommend for dinner or a drink!
  • Grab some beer, a meal, and ice cream while shopping some of the unique vendors. It's a great place to hang out for an afternoon or weekend with friends &family. Parking is a little tough but some of the side streets have parking but be mindful of any no parking signs!
  • Very nice place to walk around and grab a bite to eat. It has an open market feel and a good variety of food. Shopping is okay. It's a little uppity. Nice place to visit with kids but more for adults.
  • KSM is my go-to any time I have friends or family visiting Atlanta. You're sure to get great food no matter which vendor you visit. Some people may get turned off by the cafeteria style seating but I've met some really great people each time I've visited. It's right off of the Beltline so you can walk off some of the calories you consume while eating here and parking (valet or self) has never been an issue for me. Love this place!
