  • We loved our visit to the Governor's Mansion and even got to see the Governor and his wife. The building is not that old - it was built In the 1970s - but it is interesting to see a working residence ...  more »

  • Wonderful tour. It's amazing that the site is used as the everyday home for the Governor. The time that the tour takes depends on your level of interest in what you see. I spent about 45 minutes to an hour, but needed to cut it short there due to the end of their open hours, Tues-Thurs, 10-1130. I could have easily spent another 30 minutes. Free admission and free parking. Children will not find much interesting there, however. My two are in first and fourth grades and were ready to leave shortly after we arrived, but that's just being a kid. Guides are knowledgeable and ready to answer your questions.
  • Cause I High Ballets, who can ride by me, and can't stop. Hey my child got kidnapped from Upson Regional Medical Hospital, and No Coroner. We have Pop Up GBI labs that don't exist and are not with in protocol or procedures or guidelines of GA State Law. I see u allow the Crooks out of jail, and walk free. Here I am trying to get my child back, and u can't do ur job. I jump fence bet that or drive thru, cause I have a right to get fair trial and justice for my children, who are getting persecuted because a choice You made. Earn your money, quit stealing it, high isn't low balling huh
  • I called Governor's Mansion requesting about Easter Egg Hunt. I wasn't arguing anything, but the two mansion officers Mr. Pfirman and Ms. Jackson hung my phones up twice during the conversation and even told me that I never call them back. Both of them were very mean to me and even thought their attitude to hang a resident's phone up is correct. I called to their mansion director describing this issue and and she said both Mr. Pfirman and Ms. Jackson are dedicating people and I can do anything I want. I do think the mansion people work for the governor which means they somewhat represent the governor. I do think they owe me an apology for treating me like a dog but I know they will never say sorry. That's why I give them only 1 star (I would choose 0 star if there is) and want to reveal this issue to the public.
  • Visited the Governor's Mansion for the Lighting of the Christmas Tree and a Tour. My son and I had a pleasant visit. The Governor welcomed everyone and his lovely daughter sang to us as sweetly as she looked. While there, we were entertained by the magnificent sounds of a high school jazz ensemble. Light refreshments were served. The staff were friendly and the Governor and his wife were both gracious. To end this wonderful festival of trees, we took a beautiful picture with our hosts. I am very happy I attended and plan on making it a tradition. This was a great way to spend a Sunday evening during the holiday season. I highly recommend to all.
  • It is Pretty Mansion with lots of old furniture in it. I was disappointed Governor Sanders used Marble not from Georgia in the house, but it was still pretty. It is actually much smaller than anticipated and makes for a quick tour. All the hostesses can answer any questions you may have and tell you any history of the furniture.

Where to stay in Atlanta

Most of Atlanta's top hotels cluster in a downtown area with an easy-to-remember name--the Hotel District. The city's political and commercial hub, this area offers quick walking access to most major attractions. Another good area for boutique hotels and rental apartments is the ever-expanding Midtown, with proximity to most of Atlanta's big-name museums and theaters. If you're looking to save some money on accommodations, explore options in the more economical chain hotels outside downtown; from there, you can take the city's public transport to centrally located attractions and activities.
