Farragut State Park Reviews
We love the Gilmore loop. Be prepared to keep your dogs on leash. There are great hiking and biking trails to explore. more »
The park is great! There is so much to do there. We brought family to see The Brig. Unfortunately, the website did not mention that it closed seasonally. We still enjoyed our visit, short as it was, d... more »
We were here after the season was over so we didn't get to visit the Brig Museum or take advantage of any of the camping and hiking options. The visitor center was open and we were hoping to see some ... more »
Wonderful park. Only negative is the fee. If you are an Idaho resident, be sure to get the state park pass when you register your vehicle. That will get you into the park for free as long as your registration lasts. If you plan on camping, you will have a fee though. Also, reserve a spot many months in advance as it is often full. The park has an amazing disk golf area with 4 different 18 hole courses with varying difficulty. There are also many, many miles of single lane and dual lane trails. Many miles of lake shore trail as well as over small wooded hills. There is also a trail that takes you out of the park and up a mountain. That is a very intense hike. Finally, there are many species of wildlife living inside the park. Hike to find them or happen upon them while driving. Enjoy!
I visit a lot of state parks. Farragut State Park is the first one I visited in Idaho. It was fantastic. Spent the night in my car in a public ranger station lot. Got there too way late to get a campsite grow through and most of them looked occupied. In the morning I went down to this overlook to boil some water and make coffee and have breakfast. Other local camper started walking and jogging by around 7 a.m. . Use caution if you're up at this time there is lots of Wildlife hanging around the roads. An excellent Park I will reserve a campsite next time. Great spot to take the kids to the lake lots of open areas. And the Beaver swimming area is completely awesome what a great spot!
7 years I've lived 15 minutes away from here. Never gave it much thought till recently and I regret it. This place is so cool
Perfect little spot to come swim in the lake. There's a little lagoon just off the lake so swimmers aren't disturbing the boaters and kids can safely splash around while the shady shoreline provides enough space for non-swimmers to park and snack. Did I mention public bathrooms as well? Great spot for the cost of visiting the national park. There's also hookups in the area for camping, trailers, etc. I think full hookups even... Check though before making plans.
Great park with diverse activities and lots of space. Nice campsites and friendly hosts. Shower house was nice and included in camping fee. Nice large boat launch. Wish we had known they had four frisbee golf courses. Can't wait to go back!
