  • Close to Aspen and reachable via a pleasant drive. The view of the mountains across the lake are gorgeous. We walked a couple of trails along the lake and at the far end. Easy walking and fun watching ducks in the lake and birds in the trees. There were quite a few people hanging around to watch sunset over the peaks, but it was by no means crowded.
  • Hiked 12miles in winter for this. Incredibly beautiful place. Frozen lake between the snow mountains! I think it would look equally pretty in fall and spring. So never miss going to this place when you are in Colorado. But if you wanna hike in winter please check the weather and make a decision. It wasn't too icy when we went due to warm winds. If it is very low temperatures get prepared for the walk on icy roads.
  • We went there during late summer/fall and the view was breathtaking. Hiking was not too difficult as it had different hiking trails based on different difficulty level. One of the best places to visit in Colorado.
  • Great Place with amazing view of Maroon Bells especially during fall season. However it's get very crowded when the trees get nice colors ;) To get to the parking you have to enter before 8 am or after 5 pm. From 8am to 5pm you have to take a bus to get there.
  • So beautiful!!! Had hopes of getting up early and making it before the required shuttle but that of course didn't happen. The shuttle was a fun experience though, the guides were entertaining and the people watching was great. Quite busy on a summer weekend, trails included, although a bit of rain cleared out the main area for pictures right after the shuttle dropped us off. Worked out great - took our pics and headed off on our hike. Shuttle is of course dog friendly. :)
