Bell-shaped peaks and the distinctive maroon that colors the landscape gives the name to these famous, oft-photographed mountains. Choose from several hiking trails that provide spectacular views Maroon Bells, which measure 4,267 m (14,000 ft) high. Admire the surrounding landscapes of valleys filled with aspen and fir trees. Picturesque Maroon Lake formed from glaciers during the Ice Age sits below the peaks. For the more serious alpinists, take the trail to Crate Lake, 2.4 km (1.5 mi) beyond Maroon Lake. • Stunning vistas Try and get there early at dawn to see the sunlight hit the peaks. Keep you camera ready
  • Beautiful scenery. If you can get there early enough and have a park pass, drive in and don't waste money on the bus trip.

  • Go out after 5pm so you can drive your own car. We packed a picnic and brought a blanket. We enjoyed watching deer grazing just feet away from us as we watched the setting sun cast breathtaking shadows and colors across the surrounding mountain peaks.
  • Exceptional scenery. A must-go for all ages. I would suggest taking the bus from Aspen highlands, rather than trying to drive on your own in the morning. MOSQUITO REPELLENTS are a must!!!
  • Came after 5pm to photograph and experience the scale of Maroon Lake. It was one hell of a view. Well worth visiting.
  • This was an amazing place to hike and to camp! One of the most enjoyable camping trips we have had. The views were breath taking. The camping areas at Maroon Bells are very clean. They do not have showers though. If you do decide to camp there arrive at 8 a.m. to reserve your spot, they fill up quickly! Take lots of water while hiking and a camera! Happy Hiking and Camping.
  • Easily one of the most beautiful places in Colorado. Great hiking trails amongst incredible scenery.
