Mountain Nature / Park
Bell-shaped peaks and the distinctive maroon that colors the landscape gives the name to these famous, oft-photographed mountains. Choose from several hiking trails that provide spectacular views Maroon Bells, which measure 4,267 m (14,000 ft) high. Admire the surrounding landscapes of valleys filled with aspen and fir trees. Picturesque Maroon Lake formed from glaciers during the Ice Age sits below the peaks. For the more serious alpinists, take the trail to Crate Lake, 2.4 km (1.5 mi) beyond Maroon Lake. Shuttle buses run daily to the mountains; vehicle access is allowed but be prepared to pay a fee. • We loved the drive in from Aspen. We saw many deer and the trees were full with new leaves. Such a beautiful trip, breathtaking views. So worth the drive, a must see.  more »

  • Beautiful location, this is the most photographed place in the USA for a reason. Gotta see it to understand. I have visited earlier in late Summer. But early June is even better.
  • One of the most scenic places in Colorado. It was very serene. We were really tired when we got there but as soon as we got closer to the lake, all fatigue just vanished. There's some magic in the air.
  • PLAN YOUR WEDDING HERE!!! Its the most Gorgeous place I've ever seen apart from the Fjords in Bergen(Norway).
  • This review is about weekdays, can't talk about weekends yet. Spectacular place, beautiful scenery right from the moment you enter the highway that leads to the trailhead. Once you pass the fee area it only gets better and better. Arrived to the Snowmass trailhead parking lot and though it was bit full, had no trouble finding a spot. The best part about this is that you get the best view of the Maroon Bells just a couple of minutes away from the parking lot! The place wasn't crowded and tons of photo opportunities. All in all, great place to just get a view or get a longer hike in.
  • Great system with shuttles bringing people to the mountain and trailheads to avoid congestion on roads. Also some of the drivers offer stories and bits of knowledge along the route.
