Located in Asheville, North Carolina, Biltmore was the vision of George W. Vanderbilt. Designed by Richard Morris Hunt, the 250-room French Renaissance chateau is America’s largest home. On exhibit is the Vanderbilt family’s original collection of furnishings, art and antiques. The estate is a National Historic Landmark and encompasses 8,000 acres of renowned gardens and grounds designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.

Under leadership of Vanderbilt’s great-grandson, Biltmore has grown to include the four-star Inn on Biltmore Estate, Antler Hill Village, its award-winning Winery and Antler Hill Farm. In addition to the historic attraction, the company includes a home products division featuring Biltmore For Your Home and Biltmore Inspirations; and Biltmore Wine Company, which produces 170,000 cases of wine distributed in 26 states.

  • Very nice on a cold March day this took our breath away. So much to see very well taken care of a must see even in the winter.
  • Spring is definitely the best time, if you are just visiting the gardens. Summer and Fall are great to visit the entire grounds, so that gives you most of the year to enjoy the grounds around Biltmore. Great for a weekend stay, or just a one day visit or date. If you are also visiting the mansion or winery, then anytime is a great time at Biltmore.
  • When your visiting Biltmore, you cannot not go see the gardens. Hopefully you get lucky and are there in spring or summer when it is all in bloom. Immaculately maintained and would go back again to get more pictures and take in again. Awesome place to visit.
  • The gardens are amazing, been before a couple of times. Went to chihuli nights last night, was beautiful but underwhelming. Only 16 pieces spread across the entire property, don't get me wrong worth seeing but I expected more
  • The Biltmore gardens are magnificent. At the moment they look amazing because there is a Chihuly exhibition. The conservatory is well worth a visit, amazing plants that I haven’t seen before. There is a lot of walking involved so come prepared. Bring water and sunblock if your visit is in the summer. Time your visit so it’s when the flowers are in bloom. They have a wonderful rose garden (home to almost every class of rose) and Azalea garden. You could spend at least half a day just wandering around and appreciating the beauty. Frederick Law Olmstead, regarded as the father of American landscape gardening, designed the garden. He also designed Central Park and this garden was really the pinnacle of his achievement.
