Asbury Park Boardwalk, Asbury Park
(4.2/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Lined with shops, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues, Asbury Park Boardwalk is one of the epicenters of activity for the world-famous New Jersey coast. Stretching about 0.6 km (1 mi) along the Atlantic Ocean, the wooden walkway has been largely responsible for the surrounding city's growth as a vacation destination since the turn of the 20th century. Wander along the beach to take in the sights and sounds of the sea, peek into stylish art galleries, or simply grab a bite at one of the many restaurants along the strip. Be sure to check online schedules for the many concert halls in the area, which frequently host big-name performances; the Stone Pony is one of the United States's most famous venues. • What a lovely boardwalk....obviously new (since storm Sandy). As it was Halloween weekend, there must have been a doggie dress/costume thing and just walking around, seeing the costumes was a treat. I...  more »
  • Stayed this week at the Berkeley Hotel and got out on the boardwalk every chance I got. Took a memorable early pre-sunrise run along the boardwalk. 45 degrees and exhilarating. Felt like I was running...  more »
  • This Boardwalk takes you back to the early days when life seemed easier, the beauty of the long walk on the boardwalk seeing the beautiful beach line and fresh ocean air.

  • I have lived in NJ for 8 years now. This year was the first time I "went down the shore". The Boardwalk is very clean. It also seems very new (sandy rebuild?). Taking a stroll down the boardwalk when it's not insanely busy is actually very relaxing. I went down during this past Labor Day. I was bummin' out about the weather/hurricane. Luckily the hurricane didn't hit Asbury Park, and my travel companion and I had a few AWESOME beach days. The boardwalk also has some really great places to eat (breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner) and has some pretty neat art installations. Can not wait to visit Asbury Park and stroll down the boardwalk next summer!
  • I have lived in this area for over 15 years and this is one of my favorite boardwalks. The view is great. In the last few years the city has worked hard to clean up the area and make it visually appealing and safe. There are quaint little shops and good restaurants. The night life is fun!
  • Great little boardwalk. Hope they expand. Stone pony is a block away and music on the summer stage can be heard from here. Plenty of dining choices on main strip and a few at the end past the warehouse type building.Great place to visit! Boardwalk is short and for more mature audiences. The stone pony was having a outdoor concert the day I went so got to hear BORNS perform while I was chomping down on MOGO korean tacos. Beach is semi clean minus some cigarette butts. People are awesome there. Guy gave me a free pass to get in, girl gave me a blanket to sit on, etc.
  • Great boardwalk, not too crowded, but with lots to do. Try the Korean tacos and savory crepes!
  • Asbury has a really great energetic and fun hipster vibe without being pretentious Awesome new restaurants, biertgarden, live music and fun people watching
