Landmark Tourist Spot
Lined with shops, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues, Asbury Park Boardwalk is one of the epicenters of activity for the world-famous New Jersey coast. Stretching about 0.6 km (1 mi) along the Atlantic Ocean, the wooden walkway has been largely responsible for the surrounding city's growth as a vacation destination since the turn of the 20th century. Wander along the beach to take in the sights and sounds of the sea, peek into stylish art galleries, or simply grab a bite at one of the many restaurants along the strip. Be sure to check online schedules for the many concert halls in the area, which frequently host big-name performances; the Stone Pony is one of the United States's most famous venues. • Years after Hurricane Sandy, Asbury Park Boardwalk is still struggling to rebuild. It IS making progress. We visited in late May 2017 to find a growing restaurant and bar scene, clean beaches, strong but helpful and courteous police presence. The charm of the boardwalk is its older architecture from decades past, which is being preserved as money becomes available. Storefront vacancies remain on the beach; downtown Asbury Park, meanwhile, is booming and also worth the visit..
  • It was scenic. It was very wide enough so that people can walk freely. Many restaurants and cafes are there. Games for kids too.
  • Came here for a half marathon. It was clean and surprisingly, easily accessible. Great views of the water, with very little walking
  • An awesome place to relax and unwind. Great little shops and restaurants all along. Very LGBTQ and dog friendly.
  • THIS PLACE IS A PIECE OF HEAVEN ON EARTH. A TRUE LGBTQ SAFE HAVEN AND SANCTUARY FOR ME FROM THIS DAY FORWARD. 🌈🌈🌈 See you soon! 👑❤💝💯🙌💫✨☀
