  • Ranging in height from 201 to 270 feet high, these stainless steel spires represent the Thunderbirds signature "Bomb Burst" maneuver! It can be seen from miles away, even though it is actually located...  more »
  • Very cool and quick stop. The spires are truly amazing to see; an engineering marvel. Make it a quick stop after the Iwo Jima memorial.
  • This is a fitting tribute to our air forces from the beginning to now. The silver pillars that stream into the sky are impressive. Wish the gift shop was open but was closed on a weekday, with a sign ...  more »

  • This is a good place to view the Pentagon from. Just take a bus ride from the Pentagon City mall, it will drop you almost at the gate of the memorial in around 5-6 minutes.
  • This ain't no Iwo Jima. I hated this monument aesthetically until I actually went to see it. It has great views of DC, and when you stand within the memorial and look up, it is pretty cool.
  • A memorial to see while in Washington D.C. Take an hour of your time. Great view of the city there.
  • Very neat memorial. The Air Force Orchestra played a performance when I attended and it made for a memorable evening. Such a cool location and monument.
  • The metal spires look like they represent three jets zooming up and breaking away in three arcs. It was amazing to see this monument through the sunrise with the light glinting of the shiny metal. A must see in DC!
