Landscape Arch, Arches National Park

#2 of 7 in Trails in Arches National Park
Landscape Arch is the longest of the many natural rock arches located in the Arches National Park in Utah, United States. The arch is among many in the area known as Devil's Garden in the north area of the park. It was named by Frank Beckwith, leader of the Arches National Monument Scientific Expedition, who explored the area in the winter of 1933–1934, and can be reached by a walk of 0.8mi one-way along a graded gravel trail. The Natural Arch and Bridge Society (NABS) now considers the Landscape Arch to be the fifth longest natural arch in the world, having measured the span in 2004 at 290.1ft ±0.8ft, which is slightly longer than a measurement made by the Society in 2006 of Kolob Arch in Zion National Park. The most recent recorded rockfall events occurred in the 1990s when one large slab fell (1991) and then two additional large rockfalls occurred (1995). Due to the rockfalls, the trail beneath the arch was closed.

  • Easy trail if it’s not icy or snows underfoot but this on this visit in early part of January we made good use of our grippers and walking poles although some didn’t have either. It’s not until you ge...  more »
  • It's an easy stroll but with the heat in the middle of summer, make sure you have adequate hydration. Flat but sandy and dry trail.  more »
  • Landscape Arch is the longest time inside the National Park, Arches. Come early, otherwise there can be hard to get parking. Nice walk. Not severe. On the road in there, you can walk past and see the Tunnel Arch and Pine Tree Arch. May be recommended as it only prolongs the trip marginally. Landscape Arch is magnificent. Not to understand that the keeps. Come see it before it's too late. Remember my a 1/2 liters of water per person.

  • This is an impressive work of nature. I love seeing the sun light shine through it and the shadow it cast. Another spectacular view at Arches National Park. It is a short hike to get to this arch from the nearest parking lot.
  • Impressive natural arch spanning across the sandstone rocks. Beautiful colours at sunset and easy to get to from the carpark. Apparently the arch was used to be called Delicate Arch and the current Delicate Arch was called Landscape Arch. Either way the Delicate Arch is a must see when in Moab. I went and used it as a background for Milky Way shot.
  • If Delicate Arch is the #1 place to visit in Arches National Park, this is #1(a). An absolute must-visit. Well worth the brief hike along a very well developed trail to get there. See it while it is still there--one day, the forces of nature are going to cause this arch to collapse and you want to see it before it is gone.
  • Nice arch - Pretty fast hike - super windy though and hard to find parking - id recommend coming early to avoid the crowds - remember to bring water 💧
  • My favorite walk in arches. A definite must see. It is quite an easy walk from the parking lot and the first Arch on the Devil's Garden Trail. The trail to this point is well kept and wide.

Where to stay in Arches National Park

Arches National Park provides camping at the Devils Garden Campground, but most visitors opt to stay in the town of Moab south of the park. You'll find every type of accommodation here, including economy motels, small inns with a rustic Southwest vibe, bed and breakfasts, lodges, and campgrounds. Moab's economy largely revolves around park visitors, so you'll find plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, and various services here. A few publicly operated campgrounds line Route 128 on the park's eastern edge, and a few more accommodations sit on Route 191 off the park's western border.
