4.2/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web
Spookywoods Haunted Attraction started by a dare of teenagers in 1985 to go into an abandon farm house when the founder Tony Wohlgemuth was 15 years old. After getting a good scare from a family of bats they decided to make a haunted house that fall. The haunted attraction now takes over the majority of the 60 acre farm after almost 3 decades of growth. Kersey Valley has a year round team of artist and builders with a passion for creating fresh new experiences each fall.

  • I really enjoyed this, my first haunted house/trail. I personally wasn't scared, but decades of horror gaming has made it so I enjoy the experience more than the scares. It was fun to watch the produc...  read more »

  • Wow what a great place to go! Been every year and it keeps getting better and better. The place has awesome scares and the bathrooms are clean to go to afterwards lol. I love how they have drinks and food to get while you wait. The owners even work and not sit back and watch everyone else do stuff. The haunted manor is an awesome new add on from last year! Again awesome place, would highly recommend going! Not for the faint of heart.....
  • I ADORE SPOOKYWOODS!!! I spend my birthday (which is celebrated on Halloween) with a trip to Kersey Valley EVERY year for the past 9 years! It gets more AMAZING every year! You all ROCK!!!! • I've been going to Spookywoods every year since I was 12 years old and the show leaves me breathless every time. A great haunt that's perfect for a family night out! It's fun and scary, two of my favorite things!
  • This place is GREAT! Had my heart going from the moment i pulled in! The haunt is soo long and they constantly have you jumping and screaming and on your toes. The entire experience is amazing and whats even better, they have night time ziplining!! We're doing that next time! If you are going to do a haunt... spookywoods is the place to go, no doubt!
  • I am a haunt fanatic, I have traveled all over the state of North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and even up to Michigan to check out various haunted attractions. With that said I have been very impressed with the Legendary Kersey Valley Spookywoods. You literally are getting a show from the moment you drive down the long dirt/gravel road surrounded by forest. A few years ago they had a very creepy scarecrow stalking the cars in line, and also the parking lot. I found this to be a great way to get everyone in the mood for what was to come. Last year apparently the circus was in town because there were crazy clowns everywhere, I even saw one chase someone down the street from the attraction. Even going up to buy your ticket is an event, because the creatures will follow you and sneak up when you turn your attention away for even a second. Once inside there is quite a lot to do, they have a good selection of gift shops, and eateries, as well as a very nice restroom. This is definitly an upgrade over what I have seen at most haunts where you are lucky to get a clean port-o-john. Since SpookyWoods is very popular, the place is always busy, so if you are going, allow plenty of time for the show. They offer VIP tickets for an upgraded charge, however since some of the characters will mess with you in the line, it's still entertaining. The line to get into the attraction has a DJ, which is something else many of the haunts I have been to do not, at best you might get a speaker looping the same songs. My only complaint about the line experience is the music being played, seems to be too "Poppy", I personally would prefer a darker theme of music, as opposed to top 40, but that's just my personal opinion. As for the show itself, as I mentioned before I have been to 100's of different attractions, some of them are just a house or building, others are a walking trail, some are a cornfield, and others might be a hayride or tram ride. At Spookywoods you get all of them in one spot, I have seen many on here which complain about the price being high, but honestly for everything you get at this place, I think it's definitly worth the price. My favorite thing overall with this place is the fact they are never the same show year after year, they constantly evolve and change their sets. The house in the beginning has a different theme every year, as does the rest of the show. Other shows in the area are literally exactly the same every single year, and while it might be fun to revisit once every couple of years, I personally like not knowing what to expect when I go to a haunt. The costumes the actors wear, and the makeup is amazing, and holy $*!# are those sets awesome. I read online recently that several music artists and film companies are actually using Spookywoods for video and movie projects, so you know everything has to be spot on for folks like that to notice a place. The actors are very good, this past season my favorite area was the asylum area, very creepy, and made me feel very uncomfortable as if something was going to get me at any moment. Overall the show last year was excellent. I cannot wait to see what they have in store this year.
