  • In the forest you can enjoy the opportunity to walk very well marked footpaths. I recommend always accompanied by someone else, it is never advisable to leave the single forest, especially if one were to find some wild animal. I recommend getting a map of the place before entering, the entrance to the forest does not provide maps for walkers. You can get a map in one of the points of assistance to visitors to Arcata. The walks are welcome but walk in the Woods can be cold, go with clothes and shoes suitable depending on the weather.

  • One of the last bastions of natural, protected forest. Folks camp throughout this beauty. A place to find peace, trail-run, wild craft. It seems to me the redwoods speak and take care of the denizens of the forest. Great mushroom picking after a good rain!
  • The trails are well maintained, and the trees are large. The park is a great place to bring your dog, or hang out with friends, play disc golf, or mountain bike. The one down side is trash in the deep sections of the woods, accompanied by homeless encampments.
  • Magical place. Indescribable natural beauty. Plenty of hiking trails with moderate elevation changes but not difficult to hike. There is even a disc golf course in one section. If you're lucky you might run into a horse named Mikey, whose owner may let you feed him a cookie. Of note, you may also encounter indigent denizens if you wander off the main trails.
  • Great place for hiking without having to take a hike to get there. Very convenient, lush tree cover and great trails. Good fun workout.
  • Beautiful redwoods within walking distance of the town. Plenty of trails for a variety of different loops.
