Holliday Lake State Park is a state park located within the confines of Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest in Virginia. The land was cleared as farmland in the 1880s before being returned to its forested state in the mid-20th century. Today, the park is known for its fishing opportunities.Put Holliday Lake State Park at the forefront of your travel plans using our Appomattox trip planner.
The park was one of four recreational areas developed by the Virginia Division of Forestry (now the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation) working in conjunction with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the Depression. The central water feature at Holliday Lake is the 150-acre man-made lake. Contributing resources include Picnic Shelter #1, Wellhouse (c. 1939), the Dam/Spillway/Bridge/Lake, Drainage Culvert, Retaining Wall, and the Park Circulation System. Adjacent to the park is the separately listed Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

The campsite we were in was very accessible with a 28 feet camper. We were in the redbud camp. I can not complaining, its very accessible to all, bathroom, walk to the trail and the lake. You can...

Was very pleased with how nice and clean this lake was. I quit going years ago b/c it was nasty, but they have truly stepped it up and made it a great place to visit and enjoy. Very clean and many available picnic table areas which were clean and very well set up. Great job on making this lake desirable and worth the visit. Will definitely come back when I am able. Didn't go to the camping area..only the lake, but others have said that that area is kept well maintained as well.
Enjoyed a relaxing walk through the woods at Holliday Lake. Headed for Northwood Trail Overlook and for to the platform just as a light rain started. Still had a great view with a very short hike. Very beautiful, soothing experience. Loved it! Stopped by on a weekday and noticed the huge parking areas that must fill up over summer weekends, but I had the place to my self. Pretty, short hike.
Wow! So Beautiful. My wife, our two dogs, and I went here for memorial day weekend this past summer and I cannot express how amazing it was. The campground was very clean, and right next to the lake which has boat rentals, a beach and even a place where the dogs could play in the water. We were idiots and forgot to pack firewood but fear not! The campground has wood for sale as well as a small gift shop to remember your time with a magnet or a cute sticker. Firewood was $1.00 a log and is kept covered to ensure a good burn when you buy it. I highly suggest going, I wish we had stayed for longer than 4 days.
Very nice park. The camping sites are well maintained and organized, even if they are a bit close together. The lake's beach is good and kept clean. The park provides the typical snack bar and boat rentals. Hiking trails are good.
The park rangers were all very helpful. The campsite we had was great. Clean, easy to back into, close to the bathhouse - which was also nice! The lake was wonderful. Would definitely come back.
