  • This is a great place to escape from the urban Phoenix sprawl. Close by on the east end of the metroplex, there are fees as you enter through the state park. Someone else mentioned Siphon Draw, which ...  read more »
  • It is medium - easy trail, very scenic great views from the top. There is bench where you can sit and enjoy the view of Phoenix . Beautiful trail got to see some grass hoppers and tarantula spider.
  • Purchased a campsite to watch the meteor showed a few weeks back. Park rangers were very friendly and helpful. Campsite itself was great and amenities were within walking distance from each site. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone wanting to get out of the city and relax or look at the stars
  • Really nice park, did some hiking. Being from Wis the landscape is a nice change. Plus I loved the dry air, no humidity. I will definitely go back and spend more time there.
  • Very nice park. Flat iron summit is a great hike, about 6-7 miles from parking lot to summit and back. Leave early during summer months. If you start by 5am, can get all the way up with no sun, as mountain shades ascent. Awesome views. A lot of scrambling over rocks but not technical climbing. Highly recommend
  • The park is clean and well-kept. It's up against the Superstition Wilderness, which has miles of trails through beautiful desert scenery. My son's wedding was at this park and the mountains provided a fantastic background for photos. The park is large and has a separate area for large groups to camp together. The office is small but has maps and guide books for the area for sale. There are plenty of touristy things to do nearby. Goldfield Ghost Town is about a mile away. In the other direction, the drive to Canyon Lake and beyond is one of the most scenic in the state. You can find horse rentals near the park. Even though it's at the edge of town, there are popular restaurants a short drive away, also.
  • This is the best park I have visited that offers glimpses of everything the desert has to offer: unique plant and animal life, rugged trails, rock formations, a mountain, and even a canyon featuring its own hiking trail. This park is a most-see for me anytime I'm in Arizona.
