Yost Ice Arena is an indoor ice hockey arena located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is the home of the University of Michigan varsity ice hockey team which plays in the Big Ten Conference. It has served as home of Michigan hockey since 1973–74.HistoryBuilt in 1923 as a field house, the facility is named in honor of Michigan's legendary football coach and athletic director, Fielding H. Yost. For many years, it housed the Michigan men's and women's basketball teams, until those teams relocated their sporting events to the larger Crisler Arena in 1967. It also housed the track teams in the 1950s. In 1973, it was converted into an ice arena, and the Michigan hockey team has used it ever since. The University of Michigan's Senior and Collegiate synchronized skating and freestyle teams also practice at Yost. In addition, local high school teams, recreational leagues (AAAHA) and the university's intramural hockey league call it home.Yost Ice Arena has hosted NCAA Ice Hockey Tournament games five times in its history, most recently in 2003.

  • Great place to take the family to a hockey game. Very affordable and it is a small venue so all seats have a great view of the ice. Parking is a little difficult to find but you can access cheap parki...  more »
  • Someone needed to turn up the heat, and it wasn't the players. The game was as intense as any game I've been too, but shoot, if I shivered anymore I might've shook myself through the time-fabric back ...  more »
  • What a great place to see a game. The energy is awesome and the student chants make this a place you won't forget! Go Blue!

  • Fantastic place to go skating, the staff is always incredibly friendly. If you want to avoid large crowds, show up to the weekday noon skates, there are only even half a dozen people on the ice and they are a great crowd.
  • Great arena. Lots of fun. They have done a great job refurbishing the place.
  • Yost is an excellent environment for college hockey. There's not a bad seat in the house. It's intimate yet loud and as a fan you feel you can affect the game. Fans are always involved with various chants based on what's happening in terms of calls and plays.
  • What a great place to catch a hockey game (assuming you're a Michigan fan)! It's not too big, so even the worst seats are good, and the pep band really keeps the crowd pumped up. The only problem is the adjacent parking - there's quite a bit, but with only a couple exits, it takes forever to get out.
  • Breath taking place since it was redone!
