Great beers, atmosphere, and setup. If one beer was offered as a lower cost choice, I would visit every other day.
We love Firetrucker! Great beers in a cool spot. Big patio too.
Some of the best beer in the Des Moines area. The buliding is an old 1950s-era firehouse and they've repurposed pieces from it, including turning solid-core doors into tabletops--doorknobs in tact! Like most tap rooms, don't expect much in the way of food, but they do have locally-made chips, as well as cheese trays from The Des Moines Cheese Shop.
Bartenders were very helpful and nice. I'm a student at Iowa State and they explained everything in detail and offered plenty of samples to try. Made us feel like we were the only ones in the brewery even though it was somewhat busy. The regulars seemed like really nice people also!
Loved the lemon spritzer (even for a girl who doesn't care for beer), but great Moscow mules and ginger beer!
