Absolutely great crocodile facility. I'm a big zoo fan and especially like smaller 'niche' zoos. I was totally blown away by this hidden gem. The enclosures are huge and the guides are educational and fun. When you first arrive you can't really tell how large and impressive the facility actually is as the parking area is basic but once your inside you can immediately tell that these animals are more than just displays to someone. Most zoos don't have elephant enclosures as big as the Nile crocodile enclosures are here. The feeding displays are highly entertaining and I simply cannot say enough about the guides. An absolute awesome field trip experience.
I had heard about this place from family and when traveling decided to take a look. This is a fairly specialized facility that doesn't try to be more than it is and what it is happens to be very impressive. If you like to see alligators and crocodiles I haven't seen a place remotely comparable to this one. Multiple species, massive enclosures, and guided tours all made my visit with my family very pleasant. It's almost akin to visiting a managed state park/zoo cross. I doubt the animals even know they are captives. Very clean, country style with awesome exhibits. There are some other species as well and the giant tortoise yard was a huge hit with my kids. Well worth the visit.
This has got to be one of Houston's best kept secrets! There are so many animals from Alligators to Crocodiles, tortoises, kangaroos, pigs, and so much more. It's literally a zoo out in the country without the big crowds in your way. Today we went and did the guided feeding tour which I suggest everyone do because the tour guide is very knowledgable and made the experience so good. They have pellets for purchase that you can feed to the alligators and crocs as well as long leaf lettuce. You are allowed to bring your own long leaf lettuce to feed to the tortoises which is what we did. Check their website for times as they are only open in the mornings/early afternoons. I highly recommend this place and will be returning again.
What a fun and memorable experience! My husband, brothers and sisters, parents, and two sons went to Crocodile Encounter this morning, and we had such a positive experience! Seeing the animals that up close was truly remarkable- and the variety the facility has is pretty awesome! It was fun for our entire group- ages 1 through 55! But the best part was the individual attention given to our almost 4 year old son. The guides and the owner went out of their way to give him special attention after seeing his interest in the animals. It is safe to say they made his day- and probably his summer! After coming home, he asked if we could play "Crocodile Encounter," so all day he's been pretending to be the animals he saw and he's made me the tour guide, telling me to teach our imaginary audience about the animals and then coaxing me into giving him pretend meat! lol- thank you Crocodile Encounter for making special memories for our family!
Such a great place to visit. We had a great tour guide and the crocodiles and alligators were so close! Lots of other animals. Definitely worth the admission price.
