  • Don't miss this museum. If you "just drive by", you may think it's a single building. It's not! Several buildings are behind it, in the design of an old stamp mill, and it's well worth the visit. It's...  more »

  • Great historical collection of California Gold Rush life. Features a very interesting collection of carriages. The gold panning activity is fun and oddly addictive, even knowing there's no actual gold to be found.
  • Excellent way to learn about Gold Rush era history and the beginning of Angels Camp. Huge exhibition that covers the biggest boom in California! Bring your walking shoes.
  • Lots of interesting stuff here, nice staff
  • We stopped by hoping to 'kill some time' with our 13 YO niece. I could have 'killed' the entire day there - it was not only surprising, it was fantastic. The staff are off-the-charts wonderful and the collection of artifacts amazing. Our niece had a blast panning for gold with Jim and learned so much via the scavenger hunt the museum has for kids. I found the history of the area and particularly the history of Twain fascinating. I would recommend this gem to everyone with any interest in the past.
  • A nice little history museum.
