  • What I read about the coop made me believe it was more than it was. It was 1 room and a very small selection of their work. Nothing to write home about as an attraction, but a worthy endeavor.  more »

  • This shop sells items that are both beautiful and unique. The reviewers that complain about the price are missing the point entirely. I travel extensively around the world for my job, unique and locally traditional items that require skillful craftsmanship are increasingly hard to find in our increasingly globalized world. Arthur helped me with my purchase, he is friendly and very knowledgeable and if you give him the chance he will be able to explain why these items cost what they do. It’s entirely justified. My opinion is that these aren’t garments you buy at the Gap and throw away after a season, these are heirlooms that will last if properly cared for. If you love fiber and beautiful organic things, the shop for this co-op is a must see.
  • Rarest of fibres to knit with. 8 times warmer than wool per ounce. Worth the money. Wonderful people inside. They have a very rich knowledge of Musk ox.
  • This is an unassuming and little known store front where local native Alaskans weave and knit qiviut garments. Qiviut is fiber collected from wild musk ox that is processed into yarn. Local village women knit this yarn into mostly hats and scarves that are amazingly warm, water resistant and lightweight. It's the warmest natural fiber known. It is a hidden gem if you are visiting Alaska and are seeking a unique and genuine Alaskan gift.
  • Warmest, softest hat I own. Lovely people too. Thank you from Wisconsin.
  • Great place. Unique spot with craft done by the native population. The animal hair used (musk ox) is much softer than wool and non itchy. Pricey, but worth it, and you are supporting a good cause. Ignore the weird comment about hunting the animals - you don't kill a sheep to get its wool!
