Where to stay in Anchorage

Anchorage hotels increase room rates during the height of the tourist season, but you can visit the area economically any time of year by choosing a budget-friendly bed and breakfast or small inn. The city's downtown area contains the priciest rooms; most are offered by chain hotels. You can find less expensive rooms at a cluster of hotels located in Midtown, a largely commercial neighborhood with a good selection of restaurants and shops.

  • TA has this listed as an attraction, but it should be a Restaurant. We had researched this place online so when we got into Anchorage assumed it was central - not. It is in an industrial area 15 minut...  more »

  • Midnight sun is a larger brewery with fantastic tasting beer, generally friendly staff and a chill atmosphere. Their food is top notch. In the evenings, more so on weekends seating can be tight so some early and then the noise level be a little loud to where it's harder to engage in conversation if you aren't sitting close. The beer selection is fantastic. I highly recommend getting a flight to try a few of their beers and take some bottles or cans home with you. Was the first brewery I went to when I first moved to Alaska. I would compare them and their size as a cross between a big brewery like Big Sky Brewing and a small one trying new things like Kettlehouse for those familiar with Missoula, Montana.
  • My husband and I were there in September of 2014. We come from the Buffalo NY area. We have a roast beef sandwich called beef on weck. Roast beef on a roll topped with salt and kemmelweck seeds. We had the roast beef sandwich and homemade chips at the brewery. BEST I (we) have ever eaten. We also are not beer drinkers . We tried a couple of the brews. Fantastic!!!!! I give you 5 stars plus.
  • mind blowingly effortless gourmet food with tasty brews....pulled pork was better here than Kansas City and the Posole was inspired
  • Wow! Stop what you're doing and go there now. Order "The Smackdown" Sandwich, and you'll be in heaven. Great beer too and service too! The "Panty Dropper" is a great Tripel, and they have other amazing beers as well.
  • Can't beat the good natured folks here, just wish it weren't so out of the way for us on the mass transit system. Great ipas on tap.
