At the central part of the Alaska Railroad system, Alaska Railroad Depot provides transportation and informs travelers about Alaska's highlights. Numerous luxury and scenic train trips commence from this station, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Have a cup of coffee at the station while waiting for your ride, or simply drop by to find out about the railroad history and see one of Alaska Railroad's first locomotives. You can browse the gift shop for apparel and souvenirs, as well as purchase a guide book for your trip. If you're taking a train trip, you'll have to stand in line to get boarding passes. Travelers arriving at least 15 minutes prior to departure time will get on the train, even if lines are long.
