Downtown Disney District, Anaheim

4.3
Must see · Disney Park / Activity · Water / Amusement Park
A bustling promenade offering shopping, dining, and entertainment, Downtown Disney District is an outdoor area within the sprawling Disney resort in Anaheim. Often called the resort's "shoppertainment center," the area lies between two theme parks and their hotels. Opened in 2001 as part of the resort's massive expansion, this entertainment district encourages extended stays in the popular Disney-themed entertainment complex. The district provides free parking for up to five hours, so you can take your time to enjoy a hearty meal and a few cocktails at an open-air cafe, shop at one of the largest Disney stores in the world, or explore a range of outdoor entertainment options, nightclubs, and movie theaters. • Unreal, Disney parking is criminal, $59.00, yes fifty nine dollars, NOT $5.90, I nearly fell over, I thought it was a mistake, but nope.. 4hrs parking, waiting for a table, slow service, mediocre...  more »

  • Super fun place before you enter "The Happiest Place on Earth". We wanted to go to Salt & Straw while on vacation so we walked around Downtown Disney for about 3 hours - seeing the cute attractions, visiting the shops, and eating some food. Salt & Straw ice cream was amazing as was the food at Earl's sandwich shop. Very fun atmosphere for any age.
  • We went on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised at how smooth the trip was, from ease of parking to security line to enter. There were plenty of parking spaces. Be prepared to open bags and walk through a metal detector to enter. Parking was free with $20 validation at a single store. The highlights for us were the Lego store and Salt & Straw ice cream. I recommend visiting for a fun weekend trip with the family.
  • A great little shopping district outside the parks proper, Downtown Disney is a neat little touristy spot for all the merchandise offered in the parks in one spot. I found it a handy place to pick out and pick up those souvenirs you'll want. The architecture and displays are unique, so bring your camera. There's also a selection of restaurants if you couldn't find what you wanted in the parks.
  • Downtown Disney is an fun place to find good eats and shopping, especially after or before an Disneyland adventure. Or, just by itself. You definitely want to bring some change, as it's too tempting to come limited. I know they were undergoing renovation, so I can't wait to see the changes soon.
  • I mean, of course this is a 5 star review - it’s Disney! Without actually going to the parks, you can still have a great time. The prices are all inflamed, but ya know, it’s Disney so what would you expect. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going again!
