Downtown Disney, Anaheim

4.3
A bustling promenade offering shopping, dining, and entertainment, Downtown Disney is an outdoor area within the sprawling Disney resort in Anaheim. Often called the resort's "shoppertainment center," the area lies between two theme parks and their hotels. Opened in 2001 as part of the resort's massive expansion, this entertainment district encourages extended stays in the popular Disney-themed entertainment complex. The district provides free parking for up to five hours, so you can take your time to enjoy a hearty meal and a few cocktails at an open-air cafe, shop at one of the largest Disney stores in the world, or explore a range of outdoor entertainment options, nightclubs, and movie theaters. Put Downtown Disney and other Anaheim attractions into our Anaheim road trip planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • This is a nice area to shop and eat. There is fine dining and shopping as well as mid-range shopping and dining. Also, there are entertainers to watch and enjoy.  more »
  • I love the World of Disney store, but the rest of Downtown Disney is kinda so so for me. Movies are a nice addition, but in reality, not many people want to step away from their vacation to see a movi...  more »

  • Loved Downtown Disney. Here are shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The almost here at night is nice! Very lively and most entertaining! Did I mention you can watch the fireworks from there? You can also get to the resorts and hotels through the downtown which makes it very convenient! So much to do for the entire family!
  • The atmosphere of downtown is totally different at night. It feels more exciting. If you enjoy Disney you'll love it here. Lots of shops to explore for souvenirs. There's quite a few places to eat too. It was a very entertaining experience.
  • Lots of fun if you love Disney. Great food and atmosphere! Come for drinks or just people watching is always great. You can also see the fireworks at 930pm from the park entrance! Just remember you have to go through metal detectors so leave the unmentionables at home.
  • I would give it a higher rating, but the parking cost is too much. One of the best things about this shopping center is that it is a great place too hang out. There is also a feeling of nostalgia if you came to Disneyland as a kid. However, I feel like there is not much variety in the shops/restaurants as other outdoor shopping centers nearby (like the block). They also permanently closed rainforest Cafe and the theater to make way for even more hotels. So there are even less shops now. And with parking at $12/hour, sometimes I feel like it's just not worth it. We end up looking for something for $20 just to get parking validation for 3 hours.
  • A great to increase your Disney experience without an entry fee. The parking is very close and would cost about $24 for a couple of hours but it is free if you spend more than $20 in any store. We went about 10.30 and the parking was easy. Security line was about 10 minutes so equally not as bad as the park itself. Good fun though, worth a look.
