Spend a day of thrill-seeking adventure at Disney California Adventure Park. Located adjacent to Disneyland Resort, the theme park offers over 29 hectares (72 acres) of attractions and entertainment dedicated to the history and culture of California. Fly high above the California orange groves and Napa Valley in the simulated Soarin’ Over California ride, or tear down the rushing rapids of the Grizzly River Run. To wind down, grab an ice cream and stroll down the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, or take a relaxing ride on the Ferris wheel, enjoying views of the entire park. Discount tickets are available online if purchasing more than a one-day pass. My first time at California adventure was awesome. We took our two kids (7, 5.5) and had a fantastic time. There were impromptu skits by army men (toy story) on the street, random live music, and the ... read more »
Perfect place to have fun and hang out! Annual passes are the best way to enjoy the park all year long! Love the Cove bar and the Winery, great food, amazing drinks! Service is always perfect. We never get tired of the rides.
Fast Pass is a scam. Fast passes are available for those who bought them first during the day. We bought fast pass and could not use it because attraction was overbooked although it was middle of the work week. :( Food choice is very limited and overpriced. Staff is indifferent and you would rarely hear welcome or thank you. Lines for the most demanded attractions are 40-120 minutes regardless if you have fast pass. And trees are fake :(
Disney California Adventure (AKA Eisner's Lesser Folly) is a fun park, but not necessarily worth your entire day. It struggles to add nostalgia and meaning to areas that nobody cares about (Buena Vista, I'm looking at you). The adult rides are topnotch, though I will miss my stays in the Hollywood Tower Hotel (*elevator ding*). World of Color is worth a watch, and Pixar Play Parade is by far one of the most interactive and fun parades for children. Also, they have more variety in their food, it seems.
No surprise: tickets are super expensive. The whole park is like a dream. The reason for one star is that You can not book your fast passes online in advance (like in Disney World in Orlando), so You have to be there really soon. If not, You will experience the same we had to: spent $100s, took the whole day, got barely a new experience. Staying in the line 85 minutes is not much fun. Even the fireworks was cancelled. BTW there is no mobile data coverage and no wifi, so You will purchase parking and admission tickets online in vain, You can not show your barcodes, so You start staying the line pretty early, asking for refund for parking ticket which You payed twice at the gate.
Arguably not quite as good as Disneyland, California Adventure is great in its own way. It's worth going just for Cars Land. I've never felt like I've been in a movie, and an animated one at that! The racing ride was with the whole trip in and of itself. Get a free fast pass for Radiator Springs Racers as soon as you get to the park because they'll run out. If you have a small child you can get a family pass. The parents will get to go one at a time with the older kids (they get to go twice.) Just tell the first line either you see and they'll tell you how to get the pass.
