  • This was a great national monument. We took a wonderful hike and guided cave tour. It's important to get there as early as you can so you can get a tour booked. The day we were there, all the tours ev...  more »
  • Timp cave is a fun place to visit especially on a warm day. The hike up takes almost an hour, but it is on a paved path. Once inside there are really cool formations.  more »
  • Steep, short hike (paved), up to a great tour of an interesting cave system. Certainly worth going at least once, can be hard for old/unhealthy/young, due to the steep nature of the hike up. Switchbac...  more »

  • This is a beautiful hike. We do a lot of hiking in our family and this is not so much a hike, but a walking path. It is quite steep though so if traveling with small children, plan to take breaks in some of the designated areas. We managed to be the last group of the day which was an incredible experience to be walking down the path as the sun began to set and the canyon was awash in light. Definitely a great thing to try!
  • Timpanogos Cave NM has two challenges: First, this park is only open during the summer, from May through September. Because of this time restriction to take a ranger guided tour, they fill quickly. Reservations are highly recommended, and can be obtained up to 30 days in advance. There is no fee to enter the park and visitor center, but there is an $8.00 fee (adults/ $6.00 children) to take a guided cave tour. Tours last 55 minutes. The tours are not stroller/handicap accessible. That brings challenge two (for some). From the visitor center to the cave requires a 1.5 mile hike up a paved but very steep trail (elevation gain of 1,092 ft) to an elevation of 6,730 above sea level. Though most people take only the 45 minutes allotted (according to ticket start times), some may need more time, just ask. There are plenty of benches along the way, and when I did this hike, I kind of leapfrogged others from bench to bench. And be aware that summer temperatures can reach 100 degrees F (55 degrees in cave, yes!) along this strenuous trail. But it is well worth your effort. The Timpanogos Caves are probably some of the best in the US. Whether this is your first cave experience or another knocked off your bucket list, Timpanogos (located in the Wasatch Mtns) should be a destination park. It is simply beautiful here
  • This place is amazing. Visitors center was closed for the season but it was nice with no one there. Bring some snow shoes and a camera and go explore. Steep canyon mountains and stunning scenery. Well worth the trip.
  • I have spent three days to get here and back. Is it worth it? Maybe not. But certainly a fun place to visit. The walk up to the cave was almost as amazing as the cave itself.
  • I've been here several times and always enjoy it. At the ranger station they have interesting displays plus information they can share with you about the caves and others like it. The hike up to the caves themselves is not too difficult because it's on a paved path although the path is steep in places. They do have benches along the way to stop and catch your breath.
