  • Spectacularly beautiful! A great location to bring the family not much for facilities but the view is undescribable!  more »
  • Windy Ridge Viewpoint is stunning! The drive to the viewpoint is gorgeous as well. I was surprised to see the log mat still in Spirit Lake. We took the sand ladder trail (368 steps) for great views of...  more »
  • We traveled from Packwood to windy Ridge; it was on paved roads, in fairly good condition. some areas were in need of paving but for the most part, pretty good. the road winds up and up. It was a rela...  more »
  • Breathtaking view of the mountain and Spirit Lake. Road clearly states it is not maintained and they say what they mean. Some areas of the road are clearly sliding down the cliff, several places, if not maintained, will be gone and bring it down to a single lane road in areas. Beautiful drive, great vantage points. We went up very early in the morning and to our surprise there were only two other vehicles there. I am disabled and was not able to climb the stairs to the upper vantage point, wish the access to it was ADA, but understand why it is not. My husband took the trek and said it was spectacular. The pictures he took were amazing. We could hear elk bugling, saw the dust plumes form the elk traveling down one of the valleys, saw several different types of birds and we were visited by several squirrels. The squirrels are not bashful and liked to investigate the underside of our vehicle while looking for their morning meal. We never feed wildlife, so they were out of luck with us. Highly recommend a visit to Windy Ridge to get a better look at the devastation and the come back of the ecosystem around Spirit Lake.
  • Haunting, beautiful, spectacular... and well worth the drive even though the road is rough. For anyone old enough to remember May 18 1980, this is a memorable trip. Leave plenty of time as the trip from Randle and back will take you half a day without any hikes along the way.
  • Worth the drive. And, a lovely drive it is! Views galore... just try to make it up on a clear day!
  • An alternate view of her majesty Mount Saint Helens. Good spot to hike from as well as drop-off point for an epic mountain bike ride.
  • Great stop. Amazing drive and view.
