  • I first hiked this trail when I was about 8 years old, 56 years later I am still hiking it today. It helps that it is in my backyard. The rocky top of this mountain provides an expansive and beautiful...  more »
  • We took the blue trail and it wasn't quite what we expected. The trail was rather challenging at certain points with steep slopes, soft ground and huge boulders. We took 1.5 hours to reach the top, wi...  more »
  • We did a quick google search for Mount Major on Saturday morning prior to making the trip. The first review that popped up stated this was an easy hike for anyone ages 5-65. I’ve walked a lot of trail...  more »

  • Possibly the best view to effort ratio IN NH. Three main trails get you to the top. All three are accessed from the parking lot. Blue is the main trail. It's good for ascent and descent. Yellow is accessed from the blue trail. It's good for descent but boring on the way up. It's great for trail running. Orange is good for ascent but tricky to descend. Parking is awful. If you arrive after 10am on a weekend you will be parking on the road. On busy days you could end up as much as a half mile from the trail head. That's nuts considering the blue trail is less than 1.5 miles to the summit. There is also a hidden trail that leaves the orange trail very close to the parking lot. It shoots up the gravity line and dumps out on the blue trail on the ledges section. It is not marked well and should only be hiked by people who are very familiar with the mountain.
  • Great views at the top. Great hike but go prepared, parts are a little difficult and a treacherous. Many large rocks and boulders that can be slick if wet. Overall well worth it.
  • Absolutely stunning! The hike both ways took around 3 hours. It was challenging, but definitely doable for an amateur hiker like me.
  • Great view from the top and the cliff edge near the top. Great hike for when you want a good climb but aren't an experienced climber
  • Amazing place to hike. You can choose three different trails to hike. The Mt major trail (hard) Brook Trail (Medium) Boulder Loop Trail (easy). btw,the view at the top was beautiful. When I was like 6 or 7 I went here and I went on the brook trail. I recommend this place very much just make sure to watch for ticks and out the bug spray on before you go hiking
