  • Staff is very friendly; good selection of wines, as well as handcrafted beers; beautiful location - definitely worth the drive.
  • Von Jakob always surprises me with their great tasting brews and wines. They also seem to always have something new to try. The food is also pretty good.
  • We've been to a lot of the Southern Illinois wineries. On our first trip we skipped this place as they were transitioning to a new location. This time around we found time to eat lunch and drink here....  read more »
  • The only redeeming thing about this winery is a beer: the Chocolate Milk Stout. The wine was awful, and after we ordered our food, they forgot half of our order and forgot to clear our table of the trash that former customers left. The chips and salsa is greasy chips and Pace out of a jar. The "view" on the back patio includes a gravel road, empty pallets, a tractor and a dumpster in front of the grapevines. There are so many other wineries here, so I wouldn't waste your time with this place.
  • We went there for our wedding anniversary dinner and I had what should have been the best steak available in any restaurant. I ordered the Filet Mignon, but what I received was a fat laden piece of meat that came from the wrong section of the cow. Filet Mignon is the best cut of meat from the cow. There is no fat at all. This meat had so much fat that I couldn't even chew it enough to swallow it. I called the waitress over who in turn had the manager come over for me to tell them that I could buy better meat at Kroger. They wanted to give us some wine but we didn't take the offer. We just wanted to educate them on what Filet Mignon actually is. Won't eat there again.
  • To be honest, I really only fill my growler here. But I do it once a week. All the beers are great. Also their sausage is really good and cheap.
  • The wedding turned out Perfect. The wedding planner and assistant were AWSOME. The food was wonderful. The Hall was Beautiful. They went beyond our expectations to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of from beginning till the end. Thank you so much for all the time that was given to us through this dream wedding.. Thank You for making Ayla and Cody's wedding everything they dreamed of. The Heinzmann's
  • Unfortunate highway-side, commercial location. The wine was ok - did not purchase any bottles to take home simply because the other wineries throughout Shawnee made a much better impression. Check out Blue Sky, Pomona (fruit wines), and Owl Creek for a better vibe.
