I love hiking this trail. You get a great workout and at the top of Echo mountain, you get a history lesson on the great hostel that was once there! I wish it was still there, it would've been a great...  more »

A hidden jewel of a trail with a (+4000') elevation gain in 6.8 miles. Walkable and bikeable. You must come prepared for sun, shade, rain or snow. Bring water, can be done as a long day hike or an ove...  more »

I have few regrets in life, but one is not finding out about this location and the trail to it in my youth (I'm 64). It's a vigorous hike up the mountain and so satisfying in so many places. I bring a decent camera with a longish telephoto lens and always come back with a shot or two worth keeping. Leave early enough in the morning and make this just one stop on your way to other magnificent spots — through Castle Canyon to Inspiration Point, for one. Come with the right clothing and footwear, especially if taking on the Castle Canyon trail. And absolutely be sure to carry plenty of water and at least a little nourishment.

Awesome incline hiking trail! 2.5 miles to the top but it feels like more. If your a novice take a pass or remember to take plenty of breaks! Also, lookout fo re snake they are there! Take plenty of water!!! Snacks and decent trail shoes or boots! Wait till you get to the top!

Great view on a good day you can see all the way to Santa Monica and the ocean. Hike up is good with a well maintained path.

This is a moderate hike. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes, wear sunscreen and bring water. I've done this hike twice before. My first time hiking this trail was on 4th of July with a group of friends. We started at around 4/5 with food and drinks in our backpacks to see the surrounding cities fireworks. It was great, but it was a bit scary walking back down at around 10pm. Luckily there's a good amount of people.

Easily my favorite hike in Pasadena. Knock out two birds with one stone with this hike for some exercise and a history lesson.
