  • Was in the area for weekend and stopped in to see. It is a small gallery but has some interesting exhibitions. Would include if in the area for other attractions, not a destination site.
  • I have always visited this art museum. Brought my children when they were small and now they all have a wonderful appreciation for the arts. I love to come here alone to just walk around and enjoy all...  read more »
  • I visited specifically to view the Lewis Hine exhibit, and was not disappointed in that. I haven't been here for many years and was pleasantly surprised with their renovations. They have 5 free parkin...  read more »
  • Surprisingly good permanent collection founded on a gift of over 50 works by the dime store merchant, Samuel Kress. The American collection is a survey of nationally- and internationally-recognized artists with a focus on Pennsylvanians such as Walter Baum (impressionist) and Harry Bertoia (mid-20th century sound sculptor). Also of note are the museum's large holdings of textiles and the Peter Grippe collection. Grippe was an Abstract Expressionist and a member of the "New York School". The collection was a gift of his wife, Florence Grippe, on her death. While not many of Grippe's works are on display, one or two are always on display. Ask a museum employee where Grippe's work is located.
  • Great art museum. Always has interesting pieces.
  • Wide variety of beautiful pieces, though most aren't local (or at least I don't think they were)
  • Great place
  • Clean, quiet, serene, handicapped-accessible with elevator for three levels, it has a nice mix of colonial, modern, contemporary art as well as glassware and photographs. We were there on a Sunday when some of the exhibits were closed to visitors, but what we saw was very nice.
