Where to stay in Alexandria

Old Town boasts a number of high-end hotels that provide easy walking access to some of Alexandria's most popular restaurants, bars, and attractions. However, these are not typically budget-friendly; those looking to save a few dollars should consider a hotel or motel located on Jefferson Davis Highway. Though not technically within the city boundaries, these accommodations are considerably cheaper and often within walking distance of the metro. Alexandria is also home to a number of charming bed and breakfasts, several of which are located inside historical buildings.

  • Port City provides an excellent selection of beers and ales raging from English bitters, to Belgiums, and typical hoppy American craft beers. The are consistently good. The brew pub is a bit out of th...  more »
  • We live nearby and make it a point to go a few times a month. The beer is solid and they typically have a food truck (rocklands is really good BBQ). The ways and means is my favorite, very drinkable a...  more »
  • You have to try this place. Industrial park with a gravel parking lot outside. At prime times there's a food truck outside. Good size room with several stand up tables and a small bar. It can get very...  more »

  • Held a private party at this venue and it was fantastic! The environment was perfect. Parking was insanely easy (and free!), and drinks were so well priced. Plus, the Optimal Whit Pale Ale was SO GOOD. I'll be returning for that for sure!! Heard great things about the owner from a friend, and I can't wait to return! #skimmers!
  • A favorite story of mine to tell is that back in 2011 I was hosting a BBQ and when somebody passed me a beer I had to stop what I was doing, a literal double take to peer closer at the label and figure out what I was drinking because it was that good. Thing is, that's a true story of my discovering Port City's Optimal Wit. Thankfully, their Essential Pale Ale, Oktoberfest, Colossal Anniversary Series, and so many more are just at the peak of the regional craft beer scene. They deserve every accolade they've gotten over the years, and then some. Hopefully they keep adding more seating space and some (light) amenities, but even though it's a tougher spot to get in/out of for happy hour, it's totally worth it!
  • Met a group at Port City and was super impressed by everything! The beer was delicious and the service was great. We will definitely be coming again!
  • Great brewery on par with some of the best I've been to. Cool location, great selection, parking is terrible on busy days, but well worth the trip.
  • My wife and I went here on a Saturday afternoon. The doors were open so it was slightly cool. There was a pretty mixed crowd which made for an overall pleasant atmosphere. The beer was excellent and the workers were very informative. There was a tour every couple of hours that we didn't go on but might try next time.
