4.5
#4 of 11 in Things to do in Alamogordo
Follow the development of the United States' missile programs at White Sands Missle Range Museum, site of the first atomic bomb test and today home to a collection of historical missile models. Explore the museum's collection of indoor exhibits featuring missile motors, important technology, tools used in the construction process, and more. Don't miss the section detailing the many scientists and engineers who helped make these programs a reality. Afterward, head outside to view the extensive display of missiles once tested here. Keep in mind that the range is still an active military facility and you'll need a security pass to enter. This requires presenting your driver's license and, if coming by car, vehicle registration. • Really enjoyed our stop at the missile museum. It's on the base so you have to stop at security and have your id checked...took about 10 minutes then walk in to the museum. They have a cool missile ga...  more »
  • The museum is set at the entrance to the Missile Range Test Facility and as such you need to present photo id at the range gateway for security screening prior to entry. If you are a foreign tourist, ...  more »

  • The burgers aren't awesome, but you can't pass up their chicken strips. Somehow the breading comes out soft on the outside but hard on the inside leaving you pleasantly surprised when you take a bite. They could give you more strips, the basket is pretty big, but the price is worth what they give you. Coffee isn't bad too, if you happen to be by in the morning, but they don't make more coffee in the day, so unless you want old coffee go in the morning.
  • When these missiles come flyin' up in this place, boy, you best duck and cover cuz you're about to have a bad time.
  • I am currently en route delivering a load on an rgn to our awsome military out here im hopeing to get here a day or two early and check it out i would absolutely love to see a missile launch but chances of that are slim im sure eventhough im delivering a very important part to the process but cant say much more about it i have deliverd here before and the people are awsome and friendly i havent been to any of the exhibits here cause ive been working while here but plan to this trip out cause ive got a couple days of layover
  • I wanted to snort the sand lol
  • Excellent place to both store and test my missiles. Dry heat is excellent at preventing corrosion and keeps nosy people away!
