  • Beautiful place, great history lesson for adults and kids. All the employees were very helpful and friendly. Our personal tour guide Paul (we happened to get a "personal tour" because we were the last ones there on a Friday) was so amazing and patient with my 6 and 7 yo kids. They asked MANY questions and he was very kind and responsive to it. Highly recommend this place!
  • I'd love to give them a 5-star, but there's always work being done when we visit. The water is gone in the stone quarry area where the family used to swim and there is none in the Japanese garden, which also had fish in addition to water 30 years ago. I understand upkeep, but currently more than one area is being worked on, including the tea houses. If you're simply touring the house, it is well worth the visit. I prefer Stan Hywet more than Biltmore. When touring the home, the warmth of the family is shown through their generosity of giving their belongings back to Stan Hywet, so when you tour the home you appreciate the items in there once belonged to the family. They have a fantastic playground for the kids as well.
  • Historic 1912 home, lovingly maintained, walking through in some places it looks like the family just stepped out. Grounds impeccably maintained. Volunteer staff very friendly, knowledgeable about family and era. If you love historic homes, architecture and have a few hours this is a must see!
  • One of Akron's beautiful jewels! I have toured Stan Hywet many times and, I learn or see something new every time. Simply breath taking! An absolute must see when visiting Akron!!
  • This is a place that you will not want to miss. They have stunning shows throughout the year (make sure you get tickets early...especially for the Christmas Light show...they go fast). The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend all the tours (especially nooks and crannies) The place has a lot of of wonderful history behind it with amazing architecture, gardens and overall atmosphere. Absolutely beautiful place to visit.
