Witness the splendor of early 20th-century America at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, the country's sixth-largest historical home open to the public. The landscaped estate and its buildings, including the vast manor house, were built for F.A. Seiberling, founder of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. The estate now encompasses 28 ha (70 acres) with eight historical gardens and five historical buildings, including the 65-room manor house. Various tours of the estate take you from the manicured grounds through the glamour of the manor. You'll see its indoor swimming pool and music room with an organ, as well as the servants' quarters and utility rooms. Many different tours are available; you can find details and buy tickets online. Beautiful place, great history lesson for adults and kids. All the employees were very helpful and friendly. Our personal tour guide Paul (we happened to get a "personal tour" because we were the last ones there on a Friday) was so amazing and patient with my 6 and 7 yo kids. They asked MANY questions and he was very kind and responsive to it. Highly recommend this place!
I'd love to give them a 5-star, but there's always work being done when we visit. The water is gone in the stone quarry area where the family used to swim and there is none in the Japanese garden, which also had fish in addition to water 30 years ago. I understand upkeep, but currently more than one area is being worked on, including the tea houses. If you're simply touring the house, it is well worth the visit. I prefer Stan Hywet more than Biltmore. When touring the home, the warmth of the family is shown through their generosity of giving their belongings back to Stan Hywet, so when you tour the home you appreciate the items in there once belonged to the family. They have a fantastic playground for the kids as well.
Historic 1912 home, lovingly maintained, walking through in some places it looks like the family just stepped out. Grounds impeccably maintained. Volunteer staff very friendly, knowledgeable about family and era. If you love historic homes, architecture and have a few hours this is a must see!
Beautiful gardens and estate. Went there for the annual car show on father's day. Good food and drinks on the grounds. Lots to see and do. Even stuff for the little ones.
Incredible house, gardens and family history! You can´t miss this place! The tour guides were really nice!
