Akron Zoo welcomes more than 1 million visitors per year who come to see approximately 700 animals from more than 90 species in six recreated regions of the world. Meet the zoo's lions, tigers, sloth bears, and red pandas at the tiger valley, and get close to endangered Humboldt penguins. See leopards, jaguars, and lemurs in their habitat, which includes a 7.5 m (25 ft) waterfall. Numerous bats also inhabit the wilderness, while the indoor exhibit features a Komodo dragon, giant Galapagos tortoises, and golden monkeys. Check out the exhibits of marine animals, such as seahorses, jellyfish, lionfish, and octopuses, and look for the interactive touch tank. This was a nice little zoo. Easy to walk through. Had a carousel and a small train for kids. Very scenic too. Nice landscaping and lots of plants abound. Pretty. No elephants or gorillas though, which... more »
Had fun at the Akron Zoo- once we finally got there. All the construction on the highways and the street signing makes it very confusing to find your way , at least for us. We left in a hurry and didn... more »

Me and my daughter went here recently and had a great time. We bought a season pass so we can come any time. She liked sting rays and flamingos. They also have a nice aviary. We got lots of pictures and the staff was excellent a knowledgeable about what they do.
My 6 year old son absolutely loves the Akron Zoo! It is the perfect way to spend a few hours or a whole day! The prices are fair and they do so much enrichment for the animals and education for the kids! We enjoy packing a picnic lunch and spending the whole day watching the animals! We have been season pass holders at the Akron Zoo for the last 7 years and plan to continue to be so for many years to come!
A small zoo, but that's a good thing, particularly if you are taking children with you. It's fairly easy to walk the entire zoo, and to spend a little time at each exhibit. It's also clean, attractive, and easy to navigate. The snow leopards, lions, and the Sumatran tiger (which unlike the Bengal tiger, has a mane smaller than, but similar to, that of a lion) are great for big cat fans. Grizzly bears, several bald eagles, Red Wolves, and coyotes are a few highlights of the North American animals on display. Penguins, Komodo dragons, flamingos, lemurs, stingrays, bats... There are plenty of things to hold your interest throughout the day. There's also a petting zoo and a carousel for young kids. And the zoo is installing a new aquatic-themed display in one of the buildings. Although it was still under construction during my visit, I stuck my head through one of the doors to see workers busily finishing many tanks and other display areas. The one tank that appeared to be completed had a HUGE octopus in it, and she was fully open, like a big umbrella. Can't wait to visit again when this newest attraction is open.
We enjoyed the animals and the gardens were beautiful but why have piped music? The food in the cafe was disappointing, they have every opportunity to offer healthy interesting dishes but instead serve fries and pizza. Surely in the 21st century someone has to stop people eating so badly. Set an example Akron Zoo!
A great zoo that's not too terribly big. You can see everything they have to offer in about 3 hours, which is about the same length as our children's attention span. It's perfect!
