  • This is a beautiful little zoo spread through a wooded setting. Nice country type walk even though it is located in the city.
  • Matt and I visited the Akron Zoo today for the first time. This is a smaller zoo, but it is beautifully laid out, the landscaping and construction all well thought out and wonderfully executed. Their ...  read more »
  • My first trip this past weekend was for the Octoberfest brew at the zoo. I was surprised at how well designed the zoo was with a lot of traffic flow around. There is a pretty large hill to get up to t...  read more »
  • This zoo may be small compared to some, but it is my favorite zoo! The animals here are lively and healthy. The exhibits are well kept and the zoo is constantly making improvements. I love having a zoo in my home town, and the Akron zoo is just the right size for young kids. You can do the whole zoo in an hour if you want to, or you can just take your time and truly enjoy all the exhibits for as long as you like. The zoo interpreters are always friendly and knowledgeable and bring activities and animal encounters out for one on one animal experiences. Oh, and the gardens are amazing! This is truly a gem in the city of Akron!
  • A well run, if small Zoo convenient to the city. The zoo itself is well run and clean, and the animals are friendly and look healthy. The staff is helpful. The aesthetic of the zoo is well put together, and the exhibits are interesting. There are a variety of different animals and exhibits. That being said, it is quite small; it took my girlfriend and I only three hours to exhaust the entire zoo. A good fit for a few hours when you don't want to drive to Cleveland or Columbus.
  • Charming little zoo in downtown Akron Ohio. The penguins are a hoot. The bears are usually sleeping. Good luck seeing the wolves! The snow leopard is beautiful, and just had Cubs-don't miss it! Decent food options, but has a nice carousel that makes up for some of the missing items. We have an annual membership and go there about once a month. It's great for a couple of hours to stroll around, and get some exercise. They have a children's play area called frontier town. Worth your visit.
  • Great place to see the animals up close. It was a trek going up all the ramps and hills, but we enjoyed it! The grizzly bears were playing in the water and running around when we visited. They were up close the windows so it was more enjoyable to see.
  • I enjoyed my visit to the Akron Zoo, took about 2 hours with a couple friends to visit each of the exhibits. The staff were nice and knowledgeable about the animals and gave out some valuable information about the different species. The signs posted at each exhibit were informative about how endangered certain animals are, my only complaints is that it's a small zoo and the place was very packed. I would recommend visiting for an afternoon, good way to get out and learn some neat things about the animals in captivity.
