Akron Falls Park is a 284acre park in the Village of Akron and Town of Newstead, New York. A major feature of the park is a scenic 40ft waterfall on Murder Creek, a small stream that flows through the park. The park is operated by the Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry, and is free and open year-round.HistoryThe park's core was originally managed by the Village of Akron in the early 1930s. In 1933, approximately 90 workers from the Civil Works Administration labored to improve the park. The park was transferred to Erie County in 1947, making it one of the county's oldest parks. In the years that followed, the county purchased adjacent property, which would eventually house the park's picnic shelters and ice skating facilities.Park facilities The park has dedicated facilities for soccer, baseball, softball and tennis. Several shelters are located within the park and may be reserved for events and gatherings. Trails for hiking and bicycling are found throughout the property. During the winter, the park features ice skating facilities, a sledding hill and cross-country skiing trails.

  • My husband and I got married at the park August 2015. A great park with beautiful scenery and a nice secluded pavilion a bit off the main road made for a wonderful day!
  • Nice park. However waterfall dries out in summer so keep that in mind. Perfect time is spring and rainy season when waterfall starts flowing. I walked over dried out creek and took pics of then dried out waterfall.
  • Lovely park. This park maintains a 1950s vibe. It is a lovely spot for a picnic. It has a number of shelters that can be rented for group functions. Best of all, the road through the.park traverses the escarpment, making for great cycling up and down.
  • Absolutely incredible Park to walk or run through. The falls use to be accessible by a path that authorities have recently closed... Should've posted an "at your own risk" sign instead.
  • Its a nice waterfall and pleasant park atmosphere, however there seems to be excessive vandalism and trespassing that has contributed to the installation of obnoxious fencing and excessive police presence.
  • Beautiful park Amazing falls The creek is perfect for fishing And now The Film Marshal is shooting here !!
