The Grace Museum, Abilene

(50+ reviews on the web)
Specialty Museum Museum
The Grace Museum houses a robust permanent art collection, five art galleries featuring world-class exhibitions; an Abilene history collection; and an ever-popular children's museum.

The building was originally constructed in 1909 as the Hotel Grace, and the museum first opened at Abilene's Rose Park in the 1930s as the Abilene Fine Arts Museum, before moving downtown and changing its name in 1992.

Today, the 55,000 square foot building is the tenth largest general museum in Texas, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In the heart of Abilene's beautifully restored downtown Cultural District, The Grace is a hub for arts and education in the region.
The Grace Museum is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Abilene Edition.

  • It's surprising how many unique and high end art displays The Grace has had. The kid's area is always a fun stop. The overall history section is neat and provides some wonderful local perspective.
  • Wonderful piece of History as well as an absolutely adorable museum. You can learn a lot here. There is even a place for the kids specifically
  • The Grace is a cherished historical and cultural jewel in Abilene's crown! Whenever we have out-of-town company, it is one of the "must-sees" on our tours! I also made use of their "Art-on-Loan" for my Theatre classroom for many years--their educational support was a godsend to me! I am so grateful for their tireless efforts, on behalf of Abilene and the surrounding area, to bring culture and a sense of pride to our corner of "The Prairie!"
  • Grace After Dark was wonderful! We watched 4 short films that were very entertaining. The roof of the Grace is a wonderful venue. The weather cooperated. This event happens monthly and is free of charge, although donations are accepted. Good time!
  • We love the Grace! So many options for the kids and friendly people.
