  • The museum is absolutely brilliant, in particular the Victorian street of Kirkgate. I have visited this place since childhood, and it has always been great. It is also incredibly atmospheric. What is....  more »

  • Brilliant place. So well done. Very informative about a lot of different things. Victorian Street is like something out of Harry Potter. Really interesting. We've got a 14 year old, 12 year old and 9 year old and they were all entertained. Anything is worth paying that for.
  • Really interesting and entertaining experience, like a museum crossed with a theme park. A great day out, and I do mean day.. This place is much bigger than it seems from the outside. Fun and curious, regardless of your age.
  • We spent a good couple of hours here, there is so much to do. As it was the school holidays there were events on throughout the week. My favourite part was the prison which was quite creepy. There is a gift shop and cafe on site too. Parking is just across the road.
  • Good value for money. We spent over 3 hours perusing the various exhibits, and probably could have managed more if our feet didn't hurt. I expected a museum focused on medieval history, and the history of York's castle. Instead there were exhibits on WW1, the 60s, the york dungeons/prison. £12 for adults, not a bad price
  • Enjoyable visit. The displays are well done with the old street being particularly good. Little one enjoyed the toys section and playing for a little while with the model castle. Definitely worth a visit.
