Established in 1996 within the city walls, York Brewery is both a working brewery and a tourist attraction, providing customers locally and around the country with the first traditionally brewed ales from within the walls of York for over 40 years. Consisting of a 20 barrel brew plant, five 20 barrel fermenters and 10 conditioning tanks. A gallery has been constructed around the brewhouse, providing an excellent viewing platform, with viewing panels into both the fermenting and conditioning rooms.

  • Don't be put off by the long walk up and down and around corners when you get to the door. You will eventually hit a nice tap room offering a range of brews to suit your taste. Well worth the visit. Take a flight of 3 thirds to maximise the coverage of their selection.

  • Very surprising brewery. Great staff and lovely attic pub upstairs. Can try 3rds of all the ales which are delicious. Our guide (Tom i think...) did very well on the last tour of the day in the hot temperatures.
