  • Love it, love it, love it. Lots of shops, cafe's and restaurants, even have parking for electric cars so you can fill up and shop all at the same time. Well worth the trip, a great day out ...for the Mrs, not so your wallet !
  • Hell on earth. Probably populated by people like you. If you like wandering around aimlessly between a load of shops you'll never buy anything from only for an excuse to have a coffee in a branded coffee shop then this is for you. There's nothing you can't do in the centre of York here (and lets face facts, the centre of York is hardly difficult to get to). I've always failed to understand why people gravitate to this place like pigs to pigswill since the day it was built.
  • Lots of big shops and places to eat, John Lewis a great addition. Great!
  • Great selection of top name stores with eateries nearby. Shoppers heaven
  • Excellent for shopping and eating. Be it full on meal out such as Nandos or Giraffe, to a cup of coffee to catch up with friends (costa or M&S Cafe). All child friendly with plenty of parking.

Where to stay in York

Despite York’s relatively small size, accommodations come in a variety of styles. You can choose from privately owned townhouses, low-cost hotels, luxurious international chains, and quiet B&Bs and guesthouses. For that ultimate urban experience, consider staying in the historical city center. This part of town is packed with options for every taste and budget, all close to York’s main attractions, as well as its main transportation systems. Just a short walk from the city center, family-run guesthouses in quiet neighborhoods offer cozy rooms and modern amenities at a fraction of the cost of the big hotel chains.
