  • Attended two weddings and both were very well done. Skilled staff, nice food and has a really wonderful time. Beautiful setting
  • We got married here on 28.6.15 and it was wonderful! The wedding co-ordinators and staff working on the day were great, everything ran very smoothly and all our requests were listened to and dealt with. Such a beautiful venue, lovely rooms inside with a bar area. We had a live band in the evening which worked really well in there, very atmospheric! Lovely to be in the grounds of the Museum Gardens for photos. Very special venue for an intimate and relaxed wedding
  • We hosted our daughter's wedding at 'The Hospitium' in July 2014. The staff were wonderful and very flexible to our wishes. Our florist (Mandy) who regularly works at the Hospitium, decorated the hall beautifully to our requirements and included a floral, petal pathway alongside the aisle. It was enchanting. Upstairs, the wedding breakfast layout was designed to suit our numbers and wishes. The staff also decorated the hall with our supplied, lighting strings and bunting in various areas to our tastes. We had 60 guests, seated comfortably and there is room for more if required. We had the marriage service downstairs, followed by drinks, canapes and photos (Chris Miller) outside in the wonderful York Museum gardens, where there are many fine old limestone ruins, which make a superb background for pictures. Also the stairs outside the venue allow a photographer to picture all the guests below from a great vantage point at the top. The drinks from the cash bar gave a good choice of quality beers, wines and spirits for guests. After photos we enjoyed the superb wedding-breakfast upstairs. The regular caterers, 'Bradshaws' were excellent. They have a good choice of available menus and wines. Their serving staff were clearly well-trained, experienced, flexible and friendly. Hot food was quickly served to all guests so that no-one was left waiting for food whilst others ate. During this period, Hospitium staff were clearing the downstairs area, so that a live group, (we chose a ceilidh band), could play for guests and get the dancing started. There was a break at 9pm for our recorded music whilst a buffet was served upstairs. Then at 10pm the band started up again to finish off the evening superbly. The downstairs area made a great dancing area for this, as well as having been a wonderfully reverential site for the earlier wedding service. This is the best wedding we have ever attended and this view was expressed to us by many of our guests. We cannot fault the service we were given by the Hospitium and the other service providers. We would thoroughly recommend the whole package. We cannot thank 'The Hospitium' staff enough for providing us with such a superb venue for the wedding service and festivities. We were also told that any profit from the hire etc is used towards the upkeep of York Museum and the gardens too, which we think a very worthwhile cause.
