Despite York’s relatively small size, accommodations come in a variety of styles. You can choose from privately owned townhouses, low-cost hotels, luxurious international chains, and quiet B&Bs and guesthouses. For that ultimate urban experience, consider staying in the historical city center. This part of town is packed with options for every taste and budget, all close to York’s main attractions, as well as its main transportation systems. Just a short walk from the city center, family-run guesthouses in quiet neighborhoods offer cozy rooms and modern amenities at a fraction of the cost of the big hotel chains. Alternatively, the surrounding countryside is filled with charming private homes eager to welcome guests.

  • What a gem of a place , just at the city gates , it's a working convent dating back to 1686 the rooms are spotless a very good hospitality tray , the breakfast is wonderful and the staff were very helpful and friendly it's quirky and we live it and will definitely be coming back , this afternoon we had sandwiches and a drink in the gardens so pretty and tranquil so pleased that we found this place and only 300 yards from the train station
  • handy location. little noisy during the day. hotel itself very quiet
  • Stayed here during a visit to York. The location is convenient to both rail station and central city sites. Staff were unbelievably kind, helpful and accommodating. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again
  • Brilliant as it's only 10 minutes walk to The National Railway Museum, not too far to the city centre either and such a nice relaxing place to stay. Downside is no onsite parking but there is a car park just round the corner ( Nunnery Lane) £12 per 24hrs, just renew online with PayByPhone app on your phone. Just remember when comparing prices to add £12 per day for parking to equate.
  • I was here for a workshop and what a wonderful place to have one, the building is just lovely and the coffee shop was a real treat would highly recommend
