Where to stay in York

Despite York’s relatively small size, accommodations come in a variety of styles. You can choose from privately owned townhouses, low-cost hotels, luxurious international chains, and quiet B&Bs and guesthouses. For that ultimate urban experience, consider staying in the historical city center. This part of town is packed with options for every taste and budget, all close to York’s main attractions, as well as its main transportation systems. Just a short walk from the city center, family-run guesthouses in quiet neighborhoods offer cozy rooms and modern amenities at a fraction of the cost of the big hotel chains. Alternatively, the surrounding countryside is filled with charming private homes eager to welcome guests.

  • We had a tour of the house which was intetesting and amusing. The gardens were a delight. I would definitely recommend this stately home. Also I found it very reasonably priced. Opening for more than one month a year should enable more people to enjoy the house and garden. The photo of the house on the website does not represent the beauty of the garden.
  • beautiful gardens and lovely tea room with Delicious cake and tea in china tea pots and cups. there are nearby pubs serving very good food. a great day out. check the times before hand as tours of the house are only at set times.
