  • This large guildhall is a fine specimen of medieval building craftsmanship. The timber roofs are superb. Don't miss the undercroft, and the medieval guild chapel. The garden is a quiet oasis in a bust...  more »
  • Had a look at the hall with friends in the summer and it didn't disappoint. We all had the audio boxes and learnt a lot. York really does have so much history.
  • We hadn't planned to visit this hall, but were so glad that we did. We were walking into city centre, when we saw this beautiful old hall, that oozes history. The day we went, it was very quiet, so we...  more »

  • Not the oldest, but perhaps the best preserved and most impressive medieval timber framed building in York. Must see the inside.
  • My first impression - the beautiful old building was standing on land so much lower than the pavement outside. Great illustration of how the centuries are built on layers. Just standing inside the Great Hall and letting the energy flow over you is an experience to be treasured. We had an amazing lunch afterwards at The Hairy Fig, situated behind.
  • Studding building and architecture. A warm and friendly place to hold your function.
  • Such an amazing building!!
  • Very nice place for small weddings
