  • Beautifully kept Roman remains with an impressive wall. The site also includes a small museum and a full size replica Roman house - see how they lived.
  • thought provoking, but small, the experience here is to think of it as only one step along the whole old A5, there are remnants all along watling street, hidden behind golf courses, crumbling foundations and sleeping under fields. This is just a little tip poking out through the fields, Roman day is a great experience, if your dropping by and expecting the marvels of Ravenna in the UK you'll be bitterly dissapointed. This is an encampment, an outpost of a superpower, that is its enchantment, to try and make out this is somehow a basis of Roman life seems to me to try and make out the British camps in in Swaziland are an example of how British life was led in the 19th Century, doesn't really do Celtic Britain or Rome Justice.
  • i loved it when i went there it was like travelling back in History...
  • Great site. Although most of the city still remains underground, the baths have been excavated and provide plenty to see. The 'Old work' one of the tallest freestanding Roman ruins still extant, is quite impressive. The audio tour included in the price is a great addition, so too is the small museum on site, explaining Wroxeter's significance in the Roman world. The site also boasts a reconstructed townhouse, which was built using original Roman techniques.
  • Great example of a roman city
